Physical Characteristics
Vetch is a green plant which grows on a vine. The plant has pea like shaped flowers that can either be purple, blue or white. The plant has thin strands of stalk which helps it support itself and helps the vine climb up.

Vetch grows in fields, dry pastures, and open woods. Vetch is also scattered all
throughout the United States. All vetch bloom throughout late spring to fall.

Even though vetch is tiny it is still very good to eat. Wildlife eats the seeds and foliage of vetch too.
The whole body of the crown vetch is used for medicinal use. The crown vetch is crushed into pieces and rubbed on the rheumatic joints and cramps.

Other Uses
Vetch is also used as a cover for crops. The hairy vetch is used as a cover for crops because it conserves water, soil, and cuts down the cost of weed control.
